ICYMI - BPO News Roundup (Mar. 2021)

A collection of curated stories from client industries, CX and global trends that grab our attention.

Last month I posted a story about flying cars alongside numerous headlines in EV technology. I even joked about a Jetsons future! But it appears that automotive industry leaders are putting more money where their mouth is and, making space in their tarmacs for the next big wave.

  1. New updates on Archer. Last month we posted that Archer Aviation was partnering with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles to build the world’s first all-electric airline. Now, they’ve recently announced a deal to go public via merger with a blank-check company. How will this impact their plan to launch urban air taxi services in LA by 2024?
  2. Sounds like a job for...Joby. In addition to their partnership with Toyota Motor Corp. and Uber Technologies, Joby Aviation just announced a reverse merger with blank check company Reinvent Technology Partners. The goal: Compete against companies like Volocopter and Lilium to begin a commercial passenger service in 2024. I’ve got the deets on how this merger will help them stay competitive right here.
  3. Volkswagen has entered the (flying car) chat. Volkswagen has recently begun its first foray into the feasibility of flying cars, beginning a study that aims to identify best-fit partners and concepts as they brace for competition. What else are they looking for in this study? Click here to learn more.

Can you imagine our next highways being a sea of clouds and blue skies above? I can, and from the sounds of it, automotive leaders across the globe can as well. Let’s watch and see how this technology can improve our quality of life.
