It’s been a month of ups and downs for the auto industry, as some launched new services and technology, and others felt the effects of the Coronavirus reaching fever pitch. 

  1. There’s a hot new vehicle subscription service in Houston. Want to drive a new Nissan every day? Nissan’s Switch program allows subscribers to swap out their vehicles as often as they want. Drive an Altima one day, a Pathfinder the next. Yes, this includes the GT-R Nismo. 
  2. GM’s BEV3 is cool. This month, a Cadillac crossover will be the first to use GM’s new electric platform, the BEV3. See how President Mark Reuss explains GM's new modular battery architecture with an ice cube tray analogy. 
  3. Production suspension or social distancing: Which will have the greatest impact on the auto industry? When the Coronavirus outbreak began, supply chain issues forced some OEMs to shut down production. Now, another pandemic-related challenge could prove even more severe to the industry: social-distancing measures that are impacting consumer psychology and confidence. Here’s one of the first OEMs to feel the impact.

The pandemic is bringing with it drastic changes to how we’ll all work and live. While we need to take this virus seriously, we also need to be relentlessly optimistic.
