The Hyatt property, the first accommodations in the redevelopment plan for the historic Navy Yards neighborhood in Washington, D.C., is slated to open in early 2020.
Paying homage to the naval background that has anchored this neighborhood for decades, the Thompson’s 225 guestrooms and suites offer oversized windows and sleek, industrial modern décor. Thoughtful upscale details, such as hardwood floors and marble accents, infuse the hotel with a nostalgic vibe that speaks to carefully refined experiences. Some guestrooms will also have walk-out balconies, or views of the ballpark or river.
Overseen by a renowned New York City restaurateur, the Thompson offers Italian coastal fare in the ground-floor Maialino Mare restaurant. Guests can relax in either of the hotel’s two bars, including a seasonally open rooftop lounge that offers 360° views of the capital city. The hotel will anchor the neighborhood’s redeveloped district, with additional dining, high-end shopping and cultural opportunities arriving throughout the two-phase plan.
The Thompson has 7,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space for meetings. The hotel’s two penthouse spaces, East and West, offer between 1,402 and 1,586 square feet of indoor space and have outdoor terraces to allow a maximum capacity of 130 to 202 guests. Eight Bells, an 840-square-foot space, has a terrace of 145 square feet and is ideal for gatherings of up to 61 people. Other function spaces include private dining and the Wine Room, a 319-square-foot space ideal for meals and fewer than 18 guests.
